  • How is Posh & Lavish different?

Posh & Lavish is unwavering about what we always do and never do when we build a mattress.

We always use Talalay Latex for comfort layers and never use foam or memory foam.

We never use fiber for comfort or quilted panels.

  • What is Talalay Latex?

Talalay Latex is a rubber-based material that comes from the tropical hevea brasiliensis tree. Air is infused into the latex compound to create latex’s open cell structure. It has been used for over fifty years to produce one of the finest materials ever used in a mattress.

By definition, latex is a rubber particle suspended in water. There are two types of Talalay Latex, natural and all natural.

Natural Talallay Latex is a proprietary blend of natural and man-made latex to provide the optimal balance of pressure relief, support and durability. Wear-and-tear simulation testing shows the superiority of this blend. Natural rubber latex is used for durability. It inhibits tearing since it can be stretched like a rubber band. All Natural Talalay Latex is referred to as 100% latex and is not a blend. Although it is more expensive, and approximately 20% heavier, it is not as durable as the Natural Talalay Latex formulation.

  • Is Latex healthy to sleep on?

Latex is ideal for allergy sufferers. It is naturally hypoallergenic, dust mite resistant and antimicrobial, inhibiting the growth of bacteria, mould and mildew which are contributors to asthma and pulmonary function allergies. No artificial or synthetic materials are added to provide these benefits.

If you have a latex allergy, be assured that non-skin contact products such as mattresses that may contain some natural rubber latex, undergo a five stage washing process, which removes reaction-causing proteins.

Complaints for allergic reactions to natural rubber latex are monitored by the FDA. To our knowledge, there has never been a single complaint stemming from the natural rubber found in the latex from our single source supplier in more than 28 years of experience. Our products have been tested by outside agencies and are shown to be inherently hypoallergenic for sufferers of mold, mildew or bacterial allergies.

  • Is Latex “green”?

Talalay Latex is actually a rubber-based material that comes from the tropical have a brasiliensis tree. The Talalay Latex process features natural, biodegradable ingredients that come from renewable resources and water-based raw materials: natural latex, air and water.

Our latex does NOT use solvents. It does NOT damage the ozone layer. The factory that produces it has no need for scrubbers or external filtration and does not emit harmful elements into the air. Our natural latex is certified by Oeko-Tex (Europe’s highest environmental consumer product standard) to be free of harmful substances or chemicals.

  • Is all Latex the same?

No. Inferior grades of Latex can be imported from different parts of the world. Our Talalay Latex is made with pride in the United States. It is the finest Talalay Latex in the world.

  • Is latex durable?

Latex is one of the most naturally durable material available. Derived from the tropical rubber tree, latex is highly resilient. Simply, latex lasts longer than foam or fibre.

  • Does a latex mattress need to be flipped?

No. Posh & Lavish mattresses are built with the finest materials available and are truly maintenance free. They do not need to be flipped or rotated. The fact that we do not use fiber or foam in the top layers make them likely to have one of the longest sleep performance life of any brand available.

  • Can I wash the zippered mattress cover?

The covers on all Posh & Lavish mattress models are not removable for washing. Do not wash the material on the underneath side of the mattress. Do not attempt to remove or wash the fire retardant material attached to the mattress. Never attempt to wash the latex material. We recommend you purchase a mattress protector. Although it can be laundered and does offer an additional means of sanitation, the zippered cover on your posh and lavish mattress is not meant to be washed.

  • Is it time to replace your mattress?

The easiest way to know whether it is time to replace your mattress is to ask yourself how you slept last night. Although the Better Sleep Council recommends you replace your mattress every five to seven years, many people sleep on a mattress that isn’t worn out but that should be replaced because it doesn’t fit them correctly.
